Biography

Garel Rainey, 86, King City, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at King City Manor.
He was born January 22, 1924 in Fairport, MO, the son of Martin and Goldie (McMillen) Rainey.
Garel graduated from Grandview High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunners Mate 1st Class, in the Southwest Pacific during World War II.
Garel was a retired farmer and trucker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of King City and a member of American Legion Post #132 of King City. He served as Presiding Commissioner of Gentry County and on many boards and committees.
On June 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to Jessie Rose Slaybaugh in King City, MO, by Reverend Billy Herford. She survives at the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Jessie Rose, of 62 years are 2 Sons, Steve (Debbie) Rainey, King City, MO and Rick (Vickie) Rainey, Berlin, MO; Grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) Rainey; Ryan Rainey; Natalie (Marc) Byergo and Valerie Rainey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; 3 sisters, Retha Rainey, Galyn Coger and Cuma Ray and a brother, Robert Rainey.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 10, at Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Burial with military rites in Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
